Welcome Back EveryoneHere’s hoping you all had a wonderful summer and are ready for the crisp cooler days of fall and the excitement of a new year full of opportunities. Classes at Dance On It Studios begin on Saturday September 12th at 9:30 am so be sure to consult the Uniform Info Sheet for the requirements for each class and make a trip to Toes and Taps or Ellswear to stock up.
*Please note that the first 3 weeks are considered placement classes designated for teachers to evaluate students so they are placed in the classes appropriate for the age and skill level, please be aware that a student’s schedule may change.
Registration Classes are filling up so if you have not registered for fall dance please do so as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. We would still love to get a few more students for Musical Theatre and Tap as these are both new or returning genres this year and going to be totally amazing for every student who registers. If you have questions please contact us and we will be happy to help you.
Adult Worship Dance Classes – September 16th-October 21We will be offering 6 week sessions of adult classes with different genres of dance this fall and our first session is called Adult Worship. In this class you will learn to respond to the Holy Spirit in movement and learn techniques to move as a group without set choreography . Charlotte Edwardson will be teaching this session and it will be Wednesday nights from 6:30-7:30 pm. Register Today.
Adult and Kids Fit For It Our fitness program for kids and adults has taken off like wild fire. We will be doing adult fitness classes 6 days a week this fall with child care available on Monday and Wednesday mornings. We still have space in our Teen Girl Fitness classes and our Friday 3-4 pm KidsRFit4It classes. If you have a group of kids who would be interested in taking a class and the times or day available do not work for your schedule be sure to let us know.
Parent Information Night – Thursday September 24th from 7-8:30 pmThis is a mandatory meeting where one parent from each household should attend. We will be discussing volunteer opportunities, sharing changes that you can expect to see at the studio this year along with a time to have your questions answered. Please be sure to get this date on your calendar so you can have an informed year of dance.
Pro-D Sports Camp – October 23rd, 2015A full day from 9-4 pm of activities including workouts from our KidsRFit4It program, team sports and gymnastic activities. If you know of families who need care for their active kids on School Professional Development Days this is the camp for them!
Recital Photos and DVDPlease remember to pick up your photo’s and DVD’s from the shelf outside the office. If you did not order yours at the recital and would still like one you can still do that do that online.
FundraisingWe will be doing more fundraising this year to try to offset the costs of festival, costumes and outreach opportunities. We will be discussing these ideas and setting up ways for parent to be involved at the parent meeting.
Purdy’s Chocolates: More details will be coming on this one but basically Purdy’s sells their chocolates to us at a discounted rate and you can in turn sell them to friends and family. This was a fabulous success last year for the students who were doing festival but we would like to open this up to the rest of the school.
Redeemable Bottle Drop Off: One of our amazing parents Rahel Umpherson has volunteered to head this initiative and we are truly grateful to her for that. We will be putting some collection bags in different areas of the studio for you to deposit your bottles or cans. Rahel and a team will be picking them up on a regular basis and returning them to the depot for refund.
Thrifty Smile Cards: For every dollar we spend at Thrifty Foods they are willing to send a cheque for 5% of the grand total towards our costume budget up to $2500. Last year we were short of our goal by about $300. If we all work together by using our Smile cards to purchase groceries at Thrifty Foods we would certainly have been able to raise our total amount. Lets work as a team this year to make this happen. Cards will be available at the parent meeting or you can pick one up at the Dance On It office the first week of classes.
Nutcracker AuditionsMark your calendar, as the Alberta Ballet is auditioning students again for their performances of the Nutcracker at the Royal Theatre, Dec. 4-6. The audition will be held on Saturday, September 26 at Dance Victoria. Further details are available 0nline.
