Level 1/2B: Kristen Low
This once a week, 45-minute class is for beginner tappers who are aged 9 and up as of December 2017 or previously completed the 2016 Tap 1 or Tap 2 class. Students will learn the basic techniques of tap dancing while learning how to properly make sounds and rhythms with their tap shoes. Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing, primary and grade 1 syllabus work will be used in this class. If a dancer is younger than 6, please register him/her for our kinderdance class which will include some an introduction to tap dancing.

Level 3/4: Kristen Low
This beginner-intermediate tap class is for the more experienced tappers and dancers. This will be geared towards older students who have completed the 2016 Tap 2 or Tap 2/3 classes. This will allow students to continue progressing in the fundamental tap skills they have previously learned and build on these basics to incorporate more advanced tap work. We will be focusing on exercises from the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing, grade 2 and grade 3 syllabus, as well as learning some new combinations and dances. Upper body movements will be introduced in this level, as students learn how to fully embrace the style of tap dancing. Students in this level are highly encouraged to take at least one ballet class a week to improve their coordination, use of their upper body and understanding of musicality, performance and body awareness.

Level 5: Kristen Low
This class is for advanced tappers. Students must have taken the 2016 level 4 class to be in this class. We will be focusing on exercises from the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing grade 3 and grade 4 syllabus as well as learning some new combinations and dances. Different styles of tap will also be introduced at this level. Students in this level are highly encouraged to take at least one ballet class a week to improve their coordination, use of their upper body and understanding of musicality, performance and body awareness.

“Our goal is for every student who trains at Dance On It to feel successful and it is for this reason that there may be times teachers will be required to move students up or down a level based on their skill level and past training.”

New Students: If you are new to our studio and are interested in any of these classes please use the online form to contact the office. We will be in touch with you shortly and will arrange some trial classes to ensure the correct placement for your child.
Adult Intermediate Tap: Kristen Low
This class is for adult dancers, ages 16+, who have at least 3 years of tap experience. Get a great workout for both your body and your mind as you spend 60 minutes each week learning individual steps, combos and choreography.  Depending on the desire of this class you may or may not perform in the year-end recital.
